Dental Distance LearningWelcome to Intro to Dental Assisting Online. Our online training program is designed to be interactive and easy to follow for dental assisting students. It provides an overview of the dental profession, dental health and disease, basic anatomy and physiology, infection control, basic dental assisting, radiology, dental materials and dental office management, all of which will prepare you to enter the dental profession. After you've completed this program, you'll be ready to pursue your pathway of certification as a dental assistant by passing the radiology and infection control portions of the Dental Assisting National Board* Exam. The exam or one or more of its components may be necessary in states where registration is required for dental assistants.

Upon registering, you're given an initial six months to complete the program. Should you need more time, you may request a three-month extension at no additional charge. **Students should plan to spend a minimum of 5 hours per week to complete this program in six months.

Intro to Dental Assisting Online Tuition is $1995.00. All materials are included.

Objective

Upon successful completion of this program, you'll be able to:

  1. Describe the progression of dental disease and preventive techniques
  2. Identify the primary and permanent teeth and their functions, as well as anatomical landmarks of the head and neck
  3. Identify the chain of infection, routes of transmission, and techniques used in sterilization and disinfection
  4. Complete patient charting, take vital signs, and describe steps for emergency management
  5. Set up trays for dental procedures and understand instrument transfer techniques
  6. Understand Dental Radiology.
  7. Identify dental materials and describe their uses
  8. Develop Employability Strategies to gain employment in the dental office in various positions including Dental Assistant, Dental Receptionist, Dental Sterilization Tech and Dental Office Rover

Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics - Employment of dental assistants is expected to grow by 31 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. Ongoing research linking oral health and general health will continue to increase the demand for preventive dental services. As dental practices grow, more dental assistants will be needed.
